TulipFarm vs Zendesk: customers or internal work

Both use AI agents and approvals. Zendesk points them at customer tickets. TulipFarm points them at your team’s records, files and workflows.

Where TulipFarm differs

Four differences that show up when a reprint request turns into internal work, each with a note on how Zendesk handles it.

  • The records your team works on, with field rules

    TulipFarm

Reprints, orders and stock live in built-in tables, and field rules keep bad values out.

    See Tables

    How Zendesk handles it

Custom objects store data such as products and order history beside tickets, for customer context.

  • Approval on the exact change, not the ticket

    TulipFarm

On the actions you pick, the agent shows the exact change to a record and waits for a person’s OK.

    See Agents

    How Zendesk handles it

Approval requests sit on tickets, and approvers answer in the Agent Workspace, the help center or Slack.

  • Agents that work for your team, not customers

    TulipFarm

Saved agents follow your skills on internal records and can run as often as once an hour.

    See Agents

    How Zendesk handles it

AI agents resolve customer conversations on messaging, email and voice, and hand off to people when needed.

  • Workflows that start from a webhook

    TulipFarm

A webhook starts a run that prices the job in a code step, then waits up to 30 days for a teammate.

    See Workflows

    How Zendesk handles it

Action flows can send an approval request, wait for the answer, then continue down the matching branch.

Moving internal work out of Zendesk

TulipFarm can’t import Zendesk tickets and doesn’t replace a help desk. Keep Zendesk for customers and move the internal follow-up work.

  1. Pick the work that happens after a ticket

Choose a job your team handles internally, such as approving reprints or reordering stock.

  2. Bring the records in

Put the list you track for that job in a CSV or XLSX file and import it into a TulipFarm table.

  3. Write the rules as a skill

Turn the policy your team follows into a skill, add it to a saved agent, and pick the actions that need approval.

  4. Run it for a week

Compare the results with how the job ran before. Your first signup includes $50 in free credits.

Questions about TulipFarm and Zendesk

Is TulipFarm a Zendesk alternative?

Only for internal work. TulipFarm has no ticketing, shared inbox, SLAs or customer help center, so it doesn’t replace Zendesk for answering customers. It fits the work behind support: records in built-in tables, agents that follow your skills, and approval of the exact changes you choose.

What is the main difference between TulipFarm and Zendesk?

Zendesk is built around customer tickets across email, chat, phone and social. TulipFarm is built around your team’s records, files, agents and workflows. Zendesk’s AI agents talk to customers; TulipFarm’s agents work for your team.

Does TulipFarm have approvals like Zendesk?

Yes, but on different things. Zendesk approval requests sit on tickets, from Suite Professional. In TulipFarm, you pick which agent actions need approval, and the agent shows the exact change to a record before a person approves it.

Can TulipFarm workflows wait for a person like Zendesk action flows?

Yes. A TulipFarm workflow run can wait up to 30 days for a teammate and resumes after a restart without repeating finished steps. Zendesk action flows can also wait for an approval response before they continue.

When should I just use Zendesk?

Choose Zendesk if customers contact you by email, chat, phone or social and you need tickets, SLAs and a help center. It’s also the better fit if you want AI agents answering customers, or need SOC 2 and SSO.

Can I move my Zendesk tickets to TulipFarm?

No. TulipFarm doesn’t import tickets. Keep Zendesk for customer conversations, and move one internal job at a time: import its records from a CSV or XLSX file, write its rules as a skill, and run it until you trust the result.

How much does TulipFarm cost compared with Zendesk?

Your first TulipFarm Cloud signup includes $50 in free credits. Paid plans aren’t public yet; see the pricing page to ask for more credits or apply for student, NGO or startup support. Zendesk Support Team costs $19 per agent a month billed yearly, and Suite Team $55.

Does TulipFarm work with Slack like Zendesk?

Yes. Mention an agent in a Slack channel you grant it, and it replies there. Agents also post and react. Zendesk lets approvers answer approval requests in Slack and lists Slack among its messaging channels.
