When to stay with n8n

n8n is the better choice if any of these sound like your team.

You want self-hosting from the vendor
n8n runs on your own servers, free with the Community Edition or on paid Business and Enterprise plans. You can self-host TulipFarm, but it’s unsupported.
Your workflows span many apps
n8n has 500+ integrations plus community nodes, and an HTTP node for any API.
You need SOC 2 or SSO today
n8n is audited for SOC 2 Type II, with SAML SSO on Business and audit logs on Enterprise.
Your team writes code and runs servers
If engineers already build and maintain your workflows, n8n gives them more control over where and how they run.

Switching from n8n

TulipFarm can’t import n8n workflow files. Move one job at a time and keep the n8n workflow running until you’re happy with the result.

  1. Pick one workflow people touch

Choose a workflow that needs people to check or approve something, such as proof requests.

  2. Bring the records in

Export the data table or sheet it uses as CSV, then import it into a TulipFarm table and add field rules.

  3. Rebuild the steps

Recreate the nodes as workflow steps; Code node logic can move into a JavaScript or Python step.

  4. Run both, then switch

Run both for one cycle and compare the results. Your first signup includes $50 in free credits.

Questions about TulipFarm and n8n

Is TulipFarm an n8n alternative?

Yes, for teams that want a hosted workspace for records, files, agents and workflows rather than a workflow tool to run themselves. For the actions you choose, a person approves the exact change first. n8n suits technical teams that want to self-host.

What is the main difference between TulipFarm and n8n?

n8n is a workflow tool you can host yourself, with data tables, code steps and AI agent nodes. TulipFarm is hosted for you and puts your team’s records at the center: tables, files and projects that people, agents and workflows share.

Can I self-host TulipFarm like n8n?

Yes, but without support. TulipFarm’s code is open source under the GNU AGPL v3.0, and anyone can self-host it for free. You run the servers, upgrades and security yourself. TulipFarm Cloud is the supported way to use it. If your team wants to run automation on its own servers, n8n is built for that.

Does n8n have approvals like TulipFarm?

Yes. n8n can ask a person to approve or deny an AI agent’s tool call in Slack, Telegram or Chat, on every plan. TulipFarm shows the exact change to a record or app before a person approves it.

Can TulipFarm do everything n8n can?

No. n8n has 500+ integrations, self-hosting, schedules down to seconds, and SOC 2 Type II with SSO on Business. TulipFarm Cloud is a hosted workspace with tables that have field rules, workflows that resume after a restart, and private personal chats.

Can I move my n8n workflows to TulipFarm?

Not automatically. Rebuild one job at a time: export the data it uses as CSV and import it into a table, recreate the nodes as workflow steps, and run both until you trust the result.

How much does TulipFarm cost compared with n8n?

Your first TulipFarm Cloud signup includes $50 in free credits. Paid plans aren’t public yet; see the pricing page to ask for more credits or apply for student, NGO or startup support. n8n’s Community Edition is free to self-host. Hosted Starter costs €20 a month billed yearly for 2,500 executions, Pro €50, and Business €667, which is self-hosted only.
