TulipFarmvsLinear

A Linear alternative for orders, not sprints

Linear is built for planning and shipping software. TulipFarm is for the operations side: records, files and workflows that wait for a person’s OK.

Where TulipFarm differs from Linear

Three differences that show up when a print shop runs rush orders, each with a note on how Linear handles it.

  • Orders are rows with rules, not issues

    TulipFarm

Each order is a table row with typed fields, and a choice rule keeps out a paper you don’t stock.

    See Tables

    How Linear handles it

Linear’s plans are built around issues, projects, cycles and initiatives, with triage for incoming work.

  • You approve the agent’s exact change

    TulipFarm

On actions you pick, the agent shows the change it wants to make and waits for an OK.

    How Linear handles it

Linear Agent creates and updates work within your existing permissions; its docs don’t describe an approval step.

  • A workflow that waits for a person

    TulipFarm

A run can pause up to 30 days for a person’s reply and picks up where it left off after a restart.

    How Linear handles it

Loops run Linear Agent on a schedule, hourly or longer, or on supported events, and use AI credits.

When to stay with Linear

Linear is the better choice if any of these sound like your team.

You plan and ship software
Cycles, triage, projects and GitHub and GitLab links are what Linear is built for.
You hand issues to coding agents
Linear lets you delegate an issue to agents such as Cursor or Codex while a person stays the assignee.
You need SSO, SCIM or SOC 2
Linear has SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001, with SAML, SCIM and audit logs on Enterprise.

Switching from Linear

Keep engineering work in Linear if it suits you. Move the record work, such as orders or requests, one job at a time.

  1. Pick work that behaves like records

Choose issues that are really rows, such as client orders tracked with labels and custom statuses.

  2. Export and import

Export workspace issues from Linear as CSV and import them into a TulipFarm table with field rules.

  3. Give an agent the job

Write the steps as a skill, and mark the changes that need a person’s approval.

  4. Run both for a cycle

Compare the results, then switch. Your first signup includes $50 in free credits.

Questions about TulipFarm and Linear

Is TulipFarm a Linear alternative?

For record work, yes. If your team tracks orders, requests or clients rather than software issues, TulipFarm keeps them in tables with field rules, and agents ask before changing the ones you pick. For planning and shipping software, Linear is the stronger tool.

What is the main difference between TulipFarm and Linear?

Linear organizes work as issues, projects and cycles for product teams. TulipFarm organizes it as tables, files and workflows, with approval of exact agent changes and workflows that can wait up to 30 days for a person.

Does Linear have AI agents?

Yes. Linear Agent answers questions and creates and updates issues and projects within your permissions, in Linear, Slack and Microsoft Teams. Loops run it on a schedule or on events, and you can delegate issues to third-party agents.

Can TulipFarm do everything Linear can?

No. Linear has cycles, triage, Git integrations, importers for Jira and Asana, coding agents, SOC 2 Type II, and SAML and SCIM on Enterprise. TulipFarm has built-in tables with field rules, approvals of exact changes and long-running workflows.

Can I use TulipFarm and Linear together?

Yes, side by side. Engineering can keep planning in Linear while operations runs orders, files and approvals in TulipFarm. There is no built-in link between the two, so move data with Linear’s CSV export.

How much does TulipFarm cost compared with Linear?

Your first TulipFarm Cloud signup includes $50 in free credits. Paid plans aren’t public yet; see the pricing page to ask for more credits or apply for student, NGO or startup support. Linear is free for up to 250 issues, Basic is $10 per user a month billed yearly, and Business is $16.

Can I move issues from Linear to TulipFarm?

Yes, as data. Export workspace issues from Linear as CSV and import the file into a TulipFarm table. Cycles, Loops and integrations don’t carry over, so rebuild the job you need as a skill or workflow.
