TulipFarmvsKantata

When Kantata is more platform than your firm needs

Kantata runs resourcing, time and billing for large services firms. TulipFarm lets your team write its own agents and workflows, on tables you design.

Where TulipFarm differs

Kantata models projects, people and money for large services firms. These are the places TulipFarm takes a different path.

  • Your team writes what agents know

    TulipFarm

Any member can turn a checklist into a skill, share it and give it to a saved agent.

    See Skills

    How Kantata handles it

Custom agents are built in Agent Studio, which needs Expertise Engine Premium and a “Manage custom agents” permission.

  • Workflows you build yourself

    TulipFarm

Draw your own steps, add JavaScript or Python, and let a run wait up to 30 days for a reply.

    See Workflows

    How Kantata handles it

Automations come as prebuilt workflows with Expertise Engine Premium. Prebuilt scenarios can’t be edited or reordered.

  • Approval that holds on scheduled runs too

    TulipFarm

For actions you choose, the change waits for a person, even when no one is watching the run.

    See Agents

    How Kantata handles it

The Expertise Agent asks you to confirm before it creates or updates data, unless you switch it to Auto mode.

  • Tables for whatever your shop tracks

    TulipFarm

Ink stock, price lists or rush orders each get a table, and field rules catch a missing value.

    See Tables

    How Kantata handles it

Custom fields extend its built-in records, as text, date, currency, number or choice values.

Moving work from Kantata

You don’t have to leave Kantata to use TulipFarm. Keep it for time and billing, and move one manual job to an agent.

  1. Pick one manual job

Choose work people still do by hand around Kantata, such as checking rush orders before they reach the schedule.

  2. Export the data it needs

An Account Admin can export account data as CSV. Import the file into a TulipFarm table and set its field rules.

  3. Write the check as a skill

Turn the steps into a skill, give it to a saved agent and pick which changes need a person’s OK.

  4. Compare one cycle

Run the agent beside your usual process and check the results. Your first signup includes $50 in free credits.

Questions about TulipFarm and Kantata

Is TulipFarm a Kantata alternative?

Not as a whole. Kantata is a professional services platform with resourcing, time, budgets and invoicing. TulipFarm has none of those. It’s a workspace where agents do repeat work on shared tables and files, with approvals and workflows you build yourself.

What is the main difference between TulipFarm and Kantata?

Kantata’s AI works inside its own model of projects, people and money. TulipFarm lets your team design its own tables, write the skills agents follow and build workflows that can wait weeks for a person and pick up again after a restart.

Does Kantata’s AI ask before it changes data?

Yes. Kantata’s Expertise Agent asks you to confirm before it creates or updates data, and you can switch that to Auto mode. TulipFarm asks for approval on the actions you choose, shows the exact change, and holds scheduled and workflow runs until a person decides.

Can TulipFarm replace Kantata for time and billing?

No. TulipFarm has no time tracking, budgets, resource planning, invoices or client logins. Keep Kantata for those and use TulipFarm for jobs an agent can take on.

How much does Kantata cost compared with TulipFarm?

Kantata doesn’t publish prices; plans are tailored through its sales team, and its agent builder, MCP server and automations need Expertise Engine Premium. Your first TulipFarm Cloud signup includes $50 in free credits. Paid plans aren’t public yet; see the pricing page to ask for more credits or apply for student, NGO or startup support.

Can I move data from Kantata to TulipFarm?

Yes, one job at a time. A Kantata Account Admin can export account data as CSV, which you can import into a TulipFarm table. Agents, automations and settings don’t move across; rebuild them as skills and workflows.

Is Kantata more secure than TulipFarm?

It has more to show today. Kantata has SOC 1 Type II and SOC 2 Type II reports and SAML single sign-on on Enterprise. TulipFarm has neither, though workspace admins can’t open members’ personal chats or private agent tasks.
